Creating your logo is one of the most important steps in starting a business or rebranding an already established one.
It's the image of your whole business!
But before creating your logo, there are 5 important questions you should ask yourself:
1. What do you want your logo to represent?
Your logo should represent your business in a unique and memorable way. You don't want to blend in with everyone else because you'll get lost in the crowd of other western brands. It should also be easily recognizable and fit what you are trying to convey with your business (also known as your brands mission). Consider what elements of your business you want to highlight and incorporate those into your logo.
2. What is your branding strategy?
Your branding strategy will help you determine how you want your logo to be perceived. You may want to go with a straightforward approach or use a more creative approach. You may also want to use a logo that is symbolic of your business. Figuring this out before creating your logo is crucial to conveying the right idea to your customers.
3. What type of font should your logo be in?
Your font should be legible and consistent with your branding strategy. You may also want to use a font that is unique to your business and helps catch peoples attention. That means not using small or thin fonts for the main text of your logo/brand, but also using fonts that pair well together.
4. Are any special features necessary for your logo?
Some businesses may want a logo with a specific look or feel. Do you want to come across as strong and punchy? How about more of a Western glam look? Depending on your branding strategy, you may need to include special features in your logo.
5. How large should your logo be?
Your logo should be large enough to be easily recognizable but not so large that it takes up too much space. You may also want to create variants of your logo for different areas of your business. For example, you could have one version of your logo to put on your website, and another for product stickers or business cards.
It's easy to get overwhelmed with all of the options and different areas of designing a logo. I have been helping Western businesses scale their clientele base through designs for the past two years.
